Sobre Debbie
I am a proud first-generation Mexican American Latina from Woodburn, Oregon, and the daughter of immigrant parents from Jalisco, Mexico. As the oldest of four children, I was the first in my family to attend college and graduate from Western Oregon University with a degree in Social Science, with a focus on Sociology, and a minor in Business. Today, I serve as the Executive Director of Centro de Servicios Para Campesinos, the same organization that once helped my own father on his path to legalization. It’s an honor to now lead the very work that uplifts and empowers our immigrant community.
I served on the Woodburn City Council for five years, from May 2019 to December 2024, as the only Latina representative during my tenure. As a single mother and lifelong Woodburn resident, I’m deeply committed to creating a more inclusive and connected city, especially for families like mine. My priorities have centered on connecting immigrant, farmworker, and BIPOC community members to vital services, resources, and ensuring they feel seen, supported, and truly at home where they live and work.
