Laying the Groundwork: Harney County Wildfire Collaborative

About this session

The Harney County Wildfire Collaborative is a diverse group of partners working together to solve the complex issues around wildfire and make the sagebrush steppe landscapes in southeastern Oregon more resistant and resilient to wildfire. Since 2014, High Desert Partnership has convened and supported this group in coming to consensus on fire supression, prevention and restoration. This session will describe how the collaborative has formed and how it continues to work together today.

Laying the Groundwork: Harney County Wildfire Collaborative

Brenda has been the Executive Director of High Desert Partnership since 2015 and her interest in collaborative work started years ago when she trained in facilitation while teaching agriculture courses at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Her work has also led her to a deep understanding and appreciation of landscape-scale management and the importance of addressing social issues in management. Brenda believes the High Desert Partnership’s work is important because when there is an organization in a community committed to supporting groups working together, it actually shifts the collective conscience and more positive work gets accomplished.
