LET'S RECONNECT

We are thrilled to announce dates for the next Oregon Resilience Summit! Join us in October to reconnect and rally around the exciting recovery and resilience work that’s been happening throughout the state.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Community organizations have elevated the following priorities, and together we will:

Many small businesses are the lifeblood of a community - and at the heart of recovery.

Learn from our community’s small businesses on what they need to weather a disaster, recover from a disaster, and minimize the impacts of a disaster.

Debut of Governor Kotek's Plan for a Resilient Oregon (PRO)

A draft of a long-underway community-led, community-informed including opportunities to get involved, contribute to the plan, and network regionally

Celebrate with 53 statewide peer community-led organizations

Working collaboratively to steer the PRO

Revisit Community Land Trust models

Reimagining land stewardship/development, resource flows, wealth building, and stabilizing communities long term

Dive into Oregon’s food systems

Emerging and existing networks, and how organizations and systems can work together to meet growing food security needs

Exploring the role of traditional art

In placemaking, trust-building and cultural identity–a recipe for resilience but also response and recovery

A Panel exploring the explosive use of AI

In resilience and response–what needs harnessing and what can run wild (within reason!)

In addition to the topics above, the Summit will feature

  • An intake hub for all who wish to participate in Oregon Resilience Summit|Stewards’ new, statewide Directory of entities, nonprofits, and CBOs working in the disaster lifecycle
  • A collaborative art project to show the “mosaic” of resilience–highlighting how communities bring seemingly disparate elements together to make something beautiful
  • Individual creative projects using the dual powers of storytelling to process painful pasts and imagine joyful futures that nourish this work and the people behind it
  • Spanish language printed materials and live interpretation during the event
  • Plain old space – both the room space and the head space to just be with one another – learning, laughing, finding common ground, sparking spirited conversations, recognizing leaders and elders and up and comers and some tears and time to both talk logistics and to just plain hug it out

Also

  • Revisiting Resilience Hubs and Resilience Networks
  • Navigating and managing donations, grants and other funding during disaster response and recovery
  • Sharing the latest best practices and by community, for community solutions in accessibility and inclusion – a resilient community makes it possible for all to participate
  • Engaging young people and intergenerational learning
